State Senate races to watch in November:
- The Utah Education Association called the District 4 race the most critical and pumped more money into it than any other race. But UEA's choice, state Rep. Donald LeBaron, lost convincingly. Howard Stephenson, president of the Utah Taxpayers Association, now will carry the Republican standard against Democrat Steven Kesler.- Because of legislative reapportionment, longtime state Sen. Fred Finlinson, R-Murray, must now face fellow Sen. Scott Howell, D-Salt Lake, in the Senate District 8 race.
- Two of rural Utah's most powerful lawmakers will face off for the Senate District 27 seat. Former House Majority Whip David Adams of Monticello is the Republican candidate, while former House Minority Leader Mike Dmitrich of Price is the Democratic candidate.
