Rex Stanley Gourley, 75, of Orem, died January 15, 1993, at the Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo.
He was born May 24, 1917, a son of David and Dora Louise West Gourley in St. George, Utah. He married Ruby Taylor September 20, 1940, in the Mesa LDS Temple. He was a principal at Alta View and Canyon View Elementary Schools. He loved nature and the outdoors, he also enjoyed landscaping. He had a great love for his family and his grandchildren. He served as a Bishop in the Granite 2nd Ward, he was also a High Counselor. He was involved with the Kiwanis Club.Survivors include his wife of Orem; two sons and one daughter, Jimmy Rex Gourley of Hurricane, Utah, Steven Lee Gourley of Orem, Mrs. Carl (Carol) Neilson of San Jose, Calif.; 14 grandchildren. He is also survived by brothers and sisters, Gertrude Tranter, George Amasa Gourley, June Searle, Ramona Witney, Fawn Louise Bartholomew, David Richard Gourley, Ernest Eugene Gourley, John Paul Gourley. He was preceded in death by a brother and sister, Lee Maughn Gourley and Maurine Hatch; and a grandson, Thomas James Gourley.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 18, 1993, at 1 p.m. in the Sharon Park 3rd Ward Chapel, 225 East 200 North in Orem. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. at the chapel Monday. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Sundberg-Olpin Mortuary of Orem.
