SHARE REWARD URGED FOR REPORTING WASTE VIOLATIONS

Wanted! $5,000 Reward.

Sen. Blaze Wharton, D-Salt Lake, has introduced legislation that would pay informants up to $5,000 for reporting violations of hazardous-waste laws.According to SB59, "Any person who reports information that materially contributes to the imposition of a civil penalty or criminal fine against any person for violation shall be paid a reward."

But better hurry. In the event more than one person reports the violation, the first informant gets the reward money.

If passed, the rewards would become available after July 1.
