John R. Barnett, age 74, was born March 27, 1918 in Charlotte, North Carolina to John R. Barnett, Sr. and Susan Maude Hobbs Barnett. He died January 17, 1993 at his home.

A graduate of North Carolina State, Raleigh, N.C. He exhibited his versatility through the wide variety of work he pursued. He was a teacher, primarily in technical colleges, (DTI, VP, and U of U); but also taught radio engineering to Air Force radio operators during World War II; and in Danville, Virginia was a radio engineer for Radio Station WDVA. In Salt Lake City, Utah, he was coordinator for the Institute for Technological Training at the University of Utah, and later, operated a business for lawn sprinkler maintenance. He was a Master Mason in Progress Lodge #22 F&AM of Utah, where he served as secretary for 8 years. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and a member of El Kalah Shrine Temple, as well as a member of the Elks Lodge.On April 15, 1944, he married Marva Tuttle, who survives him; two daughters, Marva Ann Barnett-Guillot and Karen Sue Barnett also survive.

Funeral services will be at noon on Monday, Jan. 25th, at the Evans & Early Mortuary, 574 East 100 So., where friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment, Sunset Gardens Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Intermountain Unit of Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children. Funeral directors: Evans & Early Mortuary.
