Irene Barrett Riggs Henrie, 89, passed away January 22, 1993 in West Jordan, Utah of problems incident to age.
She was born on June 13, 1903 in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Sanford and Margarette Leora Hosmer Barrett. Irene married Hiram Joseph Riggs in 1924 in Culver City, California; their marriage was later solemnized in the Mesa, Arizona LDS Temple. He preceded her in death in 1966. In 1977, she married Kenneth Marion Henrie, whom she met at the Senior Citizen and Friendly Club dances.Survived by husband, Kenneth; four children of the marriage with Hiram: Donald Eugene, Monrovia, California; Norman Dee (Fay), West Jordan; Lois Irene Smith (Willis), Sandy; and Sandra Lee Kinser (Harley), Salt Lake City. Irene and Hiram had 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She and Hi also provided a home for 46 foster children.
She was a member of the LDS Church, served in auxiliary positions and as a Salt Lake Temple worker for 11 years.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 29, 12 noon at the Murraydale Ward, 6300 South 300 East, Murray, where friends may call 10:45-11:45 a.m. Funeral Directors and interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
