Officials of the Uintah Basin Replacement Projects will hold a public meeting with officials of the Uintah Unit at the Salt Lake County Government Center South Building, Room 1007, at 7 p.m.
The Upalco Unit will meet the same time and place on Thursday, Jan. 28.The Unita Basin Replacement Projects is part of the Central Utah Project Completion Act that was set up to develop some of Utah's entitlement to Colorado River water for use on the Wasatch Front. Additional facilities were authorized to provide replacement water for that taken from the Uinta Basin.
Two of the five CUP units, located in Upalco and Uintah, were never constructed due to high costs, marginal cost/benefit ratios and increased environmental awareness.
