Hoping to take advantage of a push toward higher domestic airfares, Greyhound Lines is offering discounts of up to 50 percent on 21-day advance purchase fares for bus travel through June 4. The company's "Go Easy Fares" also include discounts of 20 percent with seven-day advance purchases and 35 percent with 14-day advance purchases.

With the 21-day advance purchase, a one-way ticket from Philadelphia to New York costs $9; to St. Louis, $60.50, and to Los Angeles, $102.50. Round-trip fares are about double those amounts.Greyhound also said children under 12 are eligible for a 50 percent discount on seven-day or 14-day advance fares when they are traveling with an adult.

The discounted fares include a cancellation penalty of 25 percent on 7-day advance purchases, 50 percent on 14-day advance purchases, and 100 percent on 21-day advance purchases.
