LEVI PETERSON, author of "The Backslider" and "Night Soil," will bring his brand of relevance and irreverence to the City Art Reading series at 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at the Mount Tabor Lutheran Church, 175 S. 700 East. He will read from work in progress.

- ROBERT MIKKELSEN, poet who taught at Weber State University, will also be reading poems with a "Western flavor."- LOWELL JAEGER, the Montana poet who has always been well-received in Utah, will give a special reading at 8 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Mount Tabor Church. Jaeger is the author of several books, including "War on War," a book of poetry that has been given rave reviews.

- THE UTAH STATE POETRY SOCIETY will hold a workshop on Saturday, Jan. 30, at the Sandy Library. Sessions begin at 10:30 a.m. The topic will be "The Making of a Poet." Marilyn Bushman-Carlton, Bob Oliver, Judy Johns and Richard Shorten will address the group.
