Is David Letterman really worth the multimillions CBS shelled out to lure him away from NBC?

Yes, according to Entertainment Weekly. The magazine took a look at some recent big deals in show biz and rated which stars it thought were worth their considerable asking price. Those EW deemed worth their hefty price tags included country music superstar Garth Brooks, Michael Jackson and sister Janet, Madonna, Elton John and songwriting partner Bernie Taupin, "Basic Instinct" star Sharon Stone, Barbra Strei-sand, Barbara Walters, Oprah Winfrey and Jack Nicholson (who raked in $5 million for a mere 10 days work on "A Few Good Men").

Those who WEREN'T considered worth their salaries: Prince, Eddie Murphy, "Home Alone" producer John Hughes, "Murphy Brown" creator Diane English, aging rockers the Rolling Stones, and producer and Clinton pal Linda Bloodworth-Thomason.
