The end of year total visitations to Grand Canyon National Park was 4,301,355, about 16 percent over 1991, Park Superintendent Bob Chandler said.

Private vehicles, which have such a significant impact on park traffic and parking resources, Chandler said, showed a 17 percent increase, rising by 210,471 cars from 1991 to 1992. In 1992, 1,464,262 private vehicles entered the park and an average of 4,500 visitors per day arrived by bus and over 400 by train.In July alone, Chandler said, an average of about 22,000 people visited the park each day.
