Doctors in Reno, Nev., partially amputated the frostbitten feet of a man who was stranded outdoors with his wife and infant son for eight days after they got caught in a heavy snow storm.

James Stolpa, 21, of Paso Robles, Calif., was in stable condition following the 81/2-hour operation Sunday.Stolpa's wife, Jennifer, underwent a similar operation Jan. 18. She remains hospitalized in satisfactory condition.
