Motorists exiting I-15 anywhere between Salt Lake City and Ogden have little trouble making left-hand turns - except in Clearfield.
The proximity of Exits 338 and 336 to Hill Air Force Base can cause delays of 15 minutes or more to turn west toward State Street.Mayor Neldon Hamblin told the City Council last week the Utah Department of Transportation will install a traffic signal at I-15 and 650 North, near Hill's west gate, during the 1993 construction season.
The traffic signal system will be similar to the one at the Roy I-15 exit.
But Hamblin said UDOT recently sent a letter of clarification regarding Exit 336. He said UDOT initially stated it would also install signals at U-193 (Hill Field Road) and I-15 during 1993. However, signals will only be installed at Exit 336 if funding becomes available.
"We need to keep the pressure on," Councilman Gene Fessler told the mayor.
