Bah, humbug. Rep. Mont Evans, R-Riverton, is tired of local cities and towns passing ordinances that prohibit a person from plugging parking meters for others - in short, acting like Scrooge who won't feel the spirit of giving.

So, Monday he introduced a bill that would prohibit local governments from stopping anyone from feeding a parking meter. In the past, some good Samaritans have been stopped from walking in front of meter readers, plugging the overtime meters so the enforcement officer can't write a parking ticket. To stop that practice, some cities passed laws saying only the owner of the parked car can feed the meter."That's wrong," says Evans. "Are meters there for revenue (tickets) or there for parking? Stopping someone from plugging a meter of a car that isn't their's sure makes it look like a revenue-generating operation, and it shouldn't be that."
