Anna Deavere Smith and Han Ong were named winners Tuesday of the National Arts Clubs' 1993 Kesselring Prizes for playwrighting.

Smith, a professor at Stanford University, was awarded a $10,000 prize for her play, "Fires in the Mirror: Crown Heights, Brooklyn, and Other Identities," a one-person show she performed in Los Angeles and New York in 1992.Ong was awarded $2,500 for his play, "Swoony Planet." He is a performer as well as a playwright and has presented a number of solo shows in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The prizes were established in 1980 by a bequest from Joseph Otto Kesselring, whose best known play was "Arsenic and Old Lace."
