Salt Lake County

In its Sept. 27 meeting, the Salt Lake County Commission:

- Entered into an agreement with West Jordan City to help build a water detention basin at 7800 South 4000 West. The basin will make a 20-field soccer complex possible. The county will contribute $150,000.

- Approved expenditures of between $5,000 and $20,000 to promote "Fate of the Universe," a Stephen Hawking show at the Hansen Planetarium.

- Decided to negotiate with Salt Lake City for the removal of underground fuel tanks beneath the Metropolitan Hall of Justice. Both the city and the county have used the facility, and the tanks may have leaked. County officials said they will spend a maximum of $20,000 on the problem this year.
