Auditions for two stage productions are scheduled this weekend:

- THE POSSESSED, on Friday, Oct. 8, from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m. in the Performing Arts Building on the University of Utah campus, adjacent to the campus bookstore.This will be a new production adapted (by director Tobin Atkinson) from Dostoevski's original story.

There are roles for six men and six women. Auditioners should bring a recent portrait-style photograph and resume and a one-minute, prepared monologue.

The drama, a tale of political intrigues and unrestrained passions in Russia during the 1860s, is being mounted as Atkinson's graduate directing project. Atkinson, who is a second-year graduate student in the U. masters directing program.

Performance dates will be Nov. 18-21. Rehearsals will be held in the evenings.

- BOILERMAN, a new play by Jack Lambson, Saturday, Oct. 9, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the Vine Street Theatre, 184 E. Vine St. (about 4950 South), Murray.

Roles available for four men, 20 through 60 years of age; two women, 20-40, and one girl. Actors will play multiple roles. The production is being directed by Dave Huber.

The show is described as a touching comedy-drama, being performed in an inventive new style. The title character is a man who talks to himself.

It is scheduled for 12 performances Nov. 26-Dec. 31. The Vine Street Theatre is located in the Mount Vernon Academy. For further information, call 266-5521.
