Brigham Young University's Marriott School of Management has named Alonzo G. Decker Jr. as its 1993 International Executive of the Year.
Decker and his wife, Virginia, will be honored at a banquet at BYU Friday, Nov. 19, and will also meet with the BYU Board of Trustees during their visit to Utah. Decker is honorary board chairman of the Black & Decker Corp.During the decade, he served as chief executive officer at Black & Decker, the world's largest producer of power tools and security hardware, the corporation achieved its greatest decade of growth since its founding in 1910.
Sales during his watch climbed sixfold from $100.9 million in 1964 to $641.9 million in 1975, while net earnings rose from $8.8 million to $44.6 million.
The Marriott School of Management annually singles out prominent executives worldwide and honors them for their contributions to the business world.
