A recent tragic event about a young man who went on a shooting spree at a health club before taking his own life has sparked another call to ban firearms.

The gun grabbers will argue that gun availability was the problem. Others will say the California waiting period is not long enough. These are the people in the country who have a total lack of imagination of how to solve problems without trampling all over the Constitution. The anti-gun crowd says the reason for a waiting period is to stop crimes of passion or be a cooling-off period for those who are angry. If a person is angry enough to hurt or kill, and a gun is not available, they will use something else.

Crimes of passion happen in homes that have a history of alcohol and/or drug abuse along with domestic violence. These crimes of passion happen between 10 p.m. and 1 a.m., long after gun stores have closed.

The argument against gun availability is a weak one. Availability is not responsible for violent crimes. The criminal is responsible.
