Many Utah churches will hold special Thanksgiving services and activities Sunday through Nov. 25. Included are a variety of interfaith events involving members of several churches, as well as programs sponsored by individual churches:

Interfaith services- Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 E. South Temple - Interfaith Thanksgiving service for people of all religions on Sunday, Nov. 21, at 7:30 p.m. The Most Rev. William Weigand, Catholic Bishop of Salt Lake City, will be the speaker at the fourth annual service. Other religious leaders scheduled to take part: The Rev. Monsignor M. Francis Mannion, Father John Kaloudis, Rabbi Frederick L. Wenger, The Rev. Robert R. Sewell and Elder John Fowler. The Calvary Baptist Church Choir will perform. Those who attend will be invited to make an offering for the homeless. Food, gloves, socks or daily care items are suggested. The public is invited.

- Bountiful - An ecumenical Thanksgiving service will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Olaf's Catholic Church, 1800 S. Orchard Drive. Sponsored by St. Olaf's, Bountiful Community Church and Bountiful First Baptist Church. The public is invited and a fellowship time will follow the service.

- Ogden - The Feast of the Pilgrims will be held Sunday, Nov. 21, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Ogden United Church of Christ Congregational. The community at large is invited to enjoy a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings, prepared by the diaconate and served from 5 to 7 p.m. at the church, 3350 Harrison (above the Health Spa). Cost is $5 for adults and $3.50 for children ages 5 to 12. Reservations may be made by calling Terrie at 771-0670. A worship service will also be held at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Dr. Gordon Harrington, professor of history at Weber State University, will speak, as will the Rev. Marie S. Green.

- Park City - The Ecumenical Council of Park City will hold Thanksgiving services on Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the LDS Chapel on 2300 Monitor Drive in the Park Meadows area. A community choir will sing, the city's Young Life group will present a skit for children and child care will be available. Representatives from nine Park City churches will participate in leading the service, and Pastor Phil Stogner will preach. The public is invited.

Representatives from six churches in Park City also will prepare and serve a free Thanksgiving dinner to some 200 people with no place to go on Thursday, Nov. 25, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Treasure Mountain Middle School, 2530 Kearns Blvd. Donations of cash and food are being accepted by the Ecumenical Council to help cover costs.

- Provo - The Utah Valley Ministerial Association, representing leaders of Catholic, Episcopalian, LDS and Protestant congregations in Utah Valley, will sponsor an Interfaith Thanksgiving Service, Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 7 p.m. at the Provo Community Church, 175 N. University Ave. The service will be hosted by Rev. Susan Jackson and the people of Provo Community Church, a United Church of Christ congregation. The public is invited.

Individual church activities

- All Saints Episcopal Church, 1710 Foothill Drive - Thanksgiving Day eucharist at 10 a.m.

- Blessed Sacrament Parish, 9757 S. 1700 East - Thanksgiving Day Mass at 9 a.m. Food items may be brought to the Mass for blessing.

- Cathedral Church of St. Mark, 231 E. 100 South - Thanksgiving Day eucharist at 10 a.m. The public is invited.

- Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 370 S. 300 East - Hanging of the Greens on Saturday, Nov. 27 at 10 a.m. followed by a light lunch; worship also scheduled at 10:40 a.m. for the first through third Sundays of Advent, Nov. 28, Dec. 5 and Dec. 12, worship themes to be drawn from the Christmas story.

- Christ Lutheran Church and School, 240 E. 5600 South - Thanksgiving Day service at 10 a.m., including a thank offering of food for Crossroads Urban Center.

- Cross of Christ Lutheran Church, 1840 S. 75 East, Bountiful - Thanksgiving Day worship, 10:30 a.m.

- Episcopal Church of the Resurrection, 92 E. Pages Lane, Centerville - Thanksgiving Eve worship at 7 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Elaine Breckenridge. The public is invited and child care will be provided. For information, call 295-1360.

- First Baptist Church, 777 S. 1300 East - Thanksgiving Eve worship at 7:30 p.m. Informal worship includes music, personal sharing, preaching and celebration. A Thanksgiving offering will be received and child care will be available.

- First Church of Christ, Scientist, 360 E. 300 South - Thanksgiving Day service at 11 a.m. Child care will be provided.

- First Congregational Church, 2150 S. Foothill Drive - Sunday, Nov. 21, children's turkey dinner, children are urged to come dressed as Pilgrims or Indians. Thanksgiving Day service Nov. 25 at 10:30 a.m., all are encouraged to dress as Pilgrims. Service is followed by Thanksgiving dinner at noon, turkey will be provided, bring a dish to share. Cost is $3.50 for adults, $1.50 per child with a $10 maximum. Thanksgiving costumes are encouraged. RSVP by Nov. 21 by calling 942-5415.

- First Presbyterian Church, 12 C St. - Thanksgiving Day dinner at noon in the dining hall. Reservations are required and participants should bring a side dish to share. A good will donation for the cost of the turkey will be taken. Call 363-3889 for reservations.

- First Unitarian Church, 569 S. 1300 East - Thanksgiving Day service at 10:30 a.m. including music, reflection and an opportunity for participants to express thanks.

- First United Methodist Church, 203 S. 200 East - Advent decorating on Saturday, Nov. 27, at 10 a.m.; an old-fashioned hymn sing on Sunday, Nov. 28 at 7 p.m.

- Granger Community Christian Church, 2600 W. 3800 South - Service of Gratitude on Wednesday, Nov. 24, at 7 p.m. Informal dress, child care provided. The public is invited.

- Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 8575 S. 700 East - Thanksgiving Eve service at 7 p.m., followed by the second annual "Grandma's Pie Party," in fellowship hall. Bring your favorite holiday pie to share.

- Greek Orthodox Community at Holy Trinity Cathedral, 270 S. 300 West - Thanksgiving Day Divine Liturgy at 9 a.m. A traditional Thanksgiving dinner will also be held for those less fortunate from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Hellenic Memorial Building, 279 S. 300 West. - Intermountain Baptist Church - seen entry under Valley West Baptist Church.

- Holladay United Church of Christ, 2631 E. Murray-Holladay Road. - Sunday, Nov. 21, worship, 10:30 a.m., fashioned after the manner of the New England Congregational Churches of 17th and 18th-century New England. Worshipers are invited to dress in costume and bring artifacts to help engender appreciation for traditions that have evolved into the United Church of Christ. Nursery care will be provided.

- Hope Lutheran Church, 2930 W. 9000 South - Thanksgiving Eve potluck at 6:30 p.m., followed by worship at 7:30 p.m. For information, call 569-1111.

- Mount Tabor Lutheran Church, 175 S. 700 East - Thanksgiving Eve soup supper at 6 p.m., worship at 7 p.m., followed by pie fellowship. The public is invited free of charge. Call 328-0521.

- Murray Baptist Church, 184 E. 5770 South - Thanksgiving Eve communion services at 7:30 p.m.

- Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 2480 S. 9000 West - Thanksgiving Day Mass at 9 a.m., including a children's offertory procession. Food collected will be donated to the food pantry. The church also will hold its annual community flea market/bazaar on Friday, Nov. 27, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 28, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vendors will offer crafts, meals, baked goods and beverages for sale.

- Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, 2500 E. 3900 South - Thanksgiving Day service at 10 a.m. The program was created by J. Steven Beckham. Music will be performed by Our Saviour's Heaven Help Us Band and the public is invited. For information, call 278-1412.

- St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 172 N. 500 West, Provo - Thanksgiving Day eucharist at 9:30 a.m. St. Francis Parish will also host a Thanksgiving day dinner for college-age young adults at the church sponsored by the Catholic Newman Club/Young Adults and the Ecumenical College Fellowship. - St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 1375 E. Spring Lane - Thanksgiving Mass at 9 a.m. The service will be signed for the hearing impaired, and participants are invited to bring canned goods for the poor.

- Second Church of Christ, Scientist, 1165 Foothill Drive - Thanksgiving Day worship at 10:30 a.m. Child care will be provided.
