Former Broadway star Robert Peterson is returning this year for Promised Valley Playhouse's Christmas production, "The Gift of Christmas," according to general manager Murray Rawson. The show will run Nov. 26 through Dec. 23.
A holiday tradition, the show was conceived and will be directed by Randy Boothe, a writer/composer on the BYU faculty. The show presents a musical extravaganza of sights, sounds, songs and stories of Christmas. Many of the scenes are taken from Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, from "The Nutcracker," the stable in Bethlehem and Santa's workshop.Forty performers are included in the cast, including dancing snowmen and winter-clad ice skaters.
Brother Boothe promises a glowing array of colorful sets and costumes, new choreography, and additional music sung by Robert Peterson.
The show was a virtual sell-out last season, and organizers anticipate it will be even more popular this year, as requests for tickets came more than a month before the box office opened Nov. 1.
Matinees are scheduled Nov. 27 and Dec. 4, 11, 18, 21, 22, and 23. Prices are $7 for the balcony, $10 and $12 for the main floor and $14 for the dress circle. Tickets are available at the box office, 132 S. State, or by calling 364-5696.
