Vernon Thomas Jacobsen, 76, died Friday, November 19, 1993 of congestive heart failure.

He was born April 14, 1917 in Provo, Utah, the son of Albert and Estella Collins Jacobsen. Married Leah Taylor January 28, 1936 in Salt Lake City; marriage later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.He was an upholsterer by trade and was part-owner of Crestwood Furniture Co. in Bountiful. He retired in 1974, but left retirement six years ago and was employed by Alton Dean Medical Co. He served his country in World War II where he was decorated with the Purple Heart medal. He will be remembered for his deep love and loyalty for his family and friends, his quick wit and his quiet, gentle ways. We love you forever, Dad.

Survivors include his wife, Leah of Bountiful; one son and two daughters, Douglas Vernon and Shirley Jacobsen, Layton, Utah; Roger and Sherry Barlow, Bountiful; Stan and Shawna Spafford, Farmington; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Grant Jacobsen, Salt Lake City; two sisters, Lothiel Mayberry and Blanche Taylor, both of Provo. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 23, 1993, 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Bountiful Mortuary, 727 North 400 East, where friends may call Monday, 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday, 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to services. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Estates in Bountiful.
