A winter storm watch has been issued for northern Utah valleys Monday night and Tuesday.
Two to four inches of snow are expected by Tuesday evening in the valleys, with three to six inches on the benches. It will be much colder along the Wasatch Front, said Larry Dunn, a meteorologist at the Salt Lake office of the National Weather Service.As of 9 a.m. Monday the weather service had received reports of from 3 to 5 inches of additional snow in the northern mountains, where another 8 to 14 inches are expected by Tuesday evening.
Seven inches of new snow was reported at Solitude and 5 at ParkWest Monday morning.
Forcasters said there's a good chance of snow for Thanksgiving Day in the Salt Lake, Ogden and Provo areas. Low temperatures will range from 20 to 25 degrees. Highs will be in the lower to mid-30s.
The chance of measurable precipitation is 50 percent Monday, increasing to 70 percent Monday night and Tuesday.
