Harold L. Miller Jr., former dean of general and honors education at Brigham Young University, has been appointed first provost of the Waterford private school in Sandy. His work at the school will begin with the 1994-95 school year.
In his new position, Miller will direct 95 faculty and staff in much of the daily operation of the school.Nancy M. Heuston, head of the school, said Miller's career move from the administration of a higher-education institution to the private school indicates his devotion to a broad-based liberal arts education at all levels.
He earned a doctorate at Harvard in experimental psychology and teaches psychology at BYU. He will continue to teach classes at Waterford.
