Winners in the Granite School District School Checks competition were recently honored. The schools and children who sold the most School Checks, an annual fund-raiser for the district, received awards. This year 35,000 books, offering a variety of discounts, were sold, raising approximately $245,000.

The three top-selling elementary schools, Harry S. Truman, Woodstock and Twin Peaks, received IBM computers and CD-ROM software.Whitney Hatch, a Woodstock fifth-grader, won four round-trip tickets on Morris Air and will use them for a trip to Disneyland. Tyler Stowe, Jackling Elementary third-grader, won a mountain bike for second place. Third-through-ninth place winners, who received in-line skates from Pedersen's Ski and Sports, were Jaren Hayes, Magna; Erika Searle, Plymouth; Brandy Groves, Oquirrh Hills; Taylor Doose, Libbie Edward; Austin Copling, Twin Peaks; Megan Mangus, Truman; and Nyla Tanner, Magna. Tenth-place winner Stephanie Gosdis, John C. Fremont, won a one-year supply of Pepsi.
