A man believed to have robbed a convenience store Sunday afternoon was arrested later that evening after a deputy sheriff stopped his vehicle.

About 3:15 p.m. Sunday, a man entered Save More Gas and Groceries, 2615 E. Bengal Blvd. (7460 South). The man held up the clerk with a semi-automatic handgun and fled the store with a large amount of money. Witnesses saw him get into a beaten-up, dark-colored Toyota.Later that evening, deputy Paul Brenneman spotted a vehicle that matched the description and stopped the car near 300 East and 4200 South. Inside his vehicle, the deputy found cash and checks from the store, as well as a semi-automatic handgun, cocaine and heroine, said sheriff's spokesman Jim Potter.
