Q. How high will a helium balloon go?

A. Helium balloons have been tracked as high as 80,000 feet! That's about twice as high as most commercial airplanes fly. They usually travel about 35,000 to 40,000 feet high. Helium ballons can be tracked by radar. Sometimes scientists use helium-filled balloons to send weather instruments into the sky to gather information about the atmosphere.
