The Salt Lake County Community Christmas Council is in urgent need of volunteers to assist with families applying for assistance.
The council consists of various Sub-for-Santa programs sponsored by the Deseret News and The Salt Lake Tribune, U.S. Marines Toys-for-Tots and The Salvation Army. But, before we can do that, we need volunteers to help interview and pre-qualify potential recipients. Volunteers would answer phones and interview applicants to determine the level of need.
The Community Christmas Council will be open Nov. 10 to 19 and Nov. 29 to Dec. 3, which excludes the week of Thanksgiving. Volunteers are need to work morning and afternoon shifts, three hours long, with lunch provided each day.
The Christmas Community Council will be headquartered at 1776 W. 7800 South. For more information and to volunteer, call the U.S. Marines at 583-7318 and ask for the Community Christmas Council.
