Barlow Elder, age 96, died November 22, 1993 in Provo, Utah.

He was born December 20, 1896 in Kingston, Piute County, Utah, son of Claybourne Lorenzo and Elmina Stoker Elder. He married Iris Lavaur Pope, June 12, 1922 in Junction, Utah; the marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple, March 1, 1923. Iris preceded him in death September, 1989.He was educated and lived his life in Utah. He was a workman, competent in many skills. However, his main vocation was contractor builder. He has always been active in church activities and callings. He and his wife completed an LDS He was currently a high priest in the Cove Point Retirement Branch.

Barlow served in the US Army during World War I, Infantry division. He was a dedicated father, husband and family man. He enjoyed activities with family members and friends. He and his wife enjoyed camping and traveling in their trailer and motorhome. They especially enjoyed camping at family reunions.

He is survived by two sons and three daughters: Wendell C. Elder, Salem; Claybourne Lavell Elder, Springville; Mary Jo Swenson, Orem; Carolee Andersen, Highland; Claudia Zaike, Provo; 35 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; one sister, Golda Mangum, Orem. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Claude, Leo, Lorenzo and Oliver Q.

Funeral services will be held Weds. November 24, 1993, 2 p.m. at the Berg Drawing Room Chapel, Provo, 185 East Center Street. Friends may call at the mortuary Tues. evening from 6-8 p.m. and Weds., one hour prior to services. Interment, Orem City Cemetery. Military Rites will be accorded by the VFW District #4.
