I am writing in response to Allen R. Johnson's letter published on Nov. 3. Like all anti-gun people, he wants to pin all the crimes that involve guns on the National Rifle Association. He writes, "It would be interesting to know how many deaths there have been in this country as a result of this stand by the NRA."
Has Mr. Johnson ever stopped to think about how many more deaths there would be if it weren't for the NRA? The facts are: If the Second Amendment were stricken, the only people who would have guns would be the police and the crooks, who have plenty of guns anyway. That's a perfect environment for crime to grow and prosper as it eats away at society.Derek J. Hansen
