A St. George woman told police she was kidnapped Sunday by a man she met earlier on State Street, then held against her will and raped in his West Central City apartment.
The woman, 27, met the man about 7 p.m. and went with him to his apartment, where the couple drank beer, a Salt Lake City police report says. She told police she resisted when the man attempted to force sex, causing him to strike her on the head with a beer bottle, according to the report. She managed to escape and flagged down a passing vehicle, but the man followed and dragged her back up the stairs by the hair, she told police.
In the apartment, the man said, "If you try to leave again, I'll hurt you," and struck her again. He then removed her clothes and forced intercourse, according to the report.
The woman escaped a second time and called police from a nearby convenience store.
