"An Open World: Essays on Leslie Norris" has recently been published by Camden House, and its subject, the poet-in-residence at Brigham Young University, will sign copies of the book and read from his latest poetry at several area bookstores in early December.

A humanities professor of creative writing at BYU, Norris is a distinguished poet and short-story writer.Editors of "An Open World," a collection of critical and commemorative essays on the Welsh native, are Eugene England of BYU's English department and Peter Makuck, who was a visiting poet at BYU in 1990.

Events include:

Saturday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m., Norris will read from his latest work, a book-length autobiographical poem called "Selves," and will sign copies of his own books as well as the new book of essays at Atticus Books, 1132 S. State, Orem.

Wednesday, Dec. 8, from noon to 1:30 p.m., the BYU Bookstore will host Norris in an autograph party.

Thursday, Dec. 9, at 7:30 p.m., Norris will read from his latest work and sign books at A Woman's Place Bookstore at 1400 S. Foothill Drive in Salt Lake City.
