Utah Valley State College students, faculty and staff are invited to experience Mexico on a tour sponsored by the language department May 9-19, 1994.

Del Shumway, language department chairman and associate professor, said participants will learn about the culture and political history of pre-Hispanic, colonial and modern Mexico."We will contrast the points of view of Mexico and the United States and savor the cultural differences," Shumway said. He is taking a group for the seventh time.

The trip includes a guided tour of Guanajuato; attending a ballet in Mexico City; experiencing the Metro; visiting the temple ruins in Zocalo, the pyramids of Teno-chtit-lan and climbing the pyramid of El Castillo; flying to Merida to see ancient Mayan cities; and relaxing in Cancun.

Those who want credit for the trip must have had Spanish 101 or its equivalent. Estimated cost of the trip will be $1,500 to $1,600, which includes continental breakfast, daily dinners, all transportation, taxes, guided tours and entrance fees.
