Llewellyn Parkinson Leigh, a prominent and well loved dentist of Palo Alto for 34 years, died February 5, 1993, after fighting the effects of a massive stroke more than 2 years ago. He was 81.

Dr. Leigh had been one of the founders of the Palo Alto Dental Group and also helped teach postgraduate courses at U.C. Dental School in San Francisco. He was an authority on full mouth reconstruction and in 1975 received the Beverly B. McCollum award at the International Congress of Gnathology for outstanding professional achievement in that field. Dr. Leigh graduated with honors from University of Michigan, where he also taught for three years. He had a prestigious practice in Washington D.C. before serving in the U.S. Army Dental Corps Reserve prior to coming to Palo Alto in 1945.Llewellyn grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah and San Francisco, California, and was an avid skier and enjoyed that activity with his family throughout his life. He also loved cycling and classical music, especially opera. After moving to Portola Valley in 1957, he enjoyed gardening and tending to his goats and horses, chickens and even a cow at one time, and was a great believer in organic foods long before it was popular. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in various callings which included he and his wife being special representatives of the church in Israel for a year, after his retirement in 1980. He was also an active Rotarian.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Young Leigh; two sisters, Arbor Savage, Salt Lake City; Beth Salter, St. George, Utah; four children, Llewelyn Y. Leigh, Springville, Utah; Lana Ganschow and Leslie Neumarker, Palo Alto, Calif.; Larry P. Leigh, Parowan, Utah; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held Friday at the LDS Church in Menlo Park, California.

Funeral service February 18, 1993, 1 p.m., in Parowan, Utah, Parowan LDS Third Ward.
