Lillian Nichols Dowd died February 13, 1993 at her home in Sandy.

She was born October 10, 1910 in Union Township, Belmont County, north of Morristown, Ohio, to Clayton and Ora Ahalt Nichols. She received her B.S. degree in education from Ohio University. She taught in Blaine and Sebring, Ohio; in Pahoa, Hawaii and in Kekaha, Kauai; in Grant School in Salt Lake City and as a remedial reading teacher in various elementary and junior high schools in Salt Lake City.Lillian married Lawrence T. Dowd in Olaa, Hawaii in 1948. She was a member of Cottonwood Presbyterian Church, the American Association of Retired Persons, and Zeta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society International. She was treasurer of the state organization of this last group for two years.

She was preceded in death by her nephews, Clifford and Clayton Doughty; and her sister, Launa Doughty, all formerly of Belmont, Ohio. She is survived by Frederick and Linda Dowd of Green River, Wyoming.

A memorial service will be held at the Cottonwood Presbyterian Church, 1580 East Vine Street on Wednesday, February 17, 1993 at 10 a.m. Cremains will be intered in the Morristown Union Cemetery in Ohio. Funeral directors, Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary.
