Our dear dad, Severn Stanley Smith, died suddenly the late evening of February 12, 1993, leaving for awhile his eternal companion of 67 years, Vera Labrum Smith, whom he married June 30, 1926.

He was the last surviving son of Joseph Ephraim and Eusebia Hunter Smith. Born August 12, 1904 in Granger Utah. Dad never knew a stranger. He loved people and the old Granger community has lost another one of its treasured people. He retired from Kennecott Copper in 1969 after 40 years of service. He was a member of the LDS Church, having served in many capacities, but probably enjoyed most his coaching days with the old Granger 2nd Ward. He dearly loved his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a multitude of friends.Survived by his wife, Vera; sons, Douglas and wife Barbara, Idaho Falls, Idaho; Glen and wife Jan; Clyde and wife Mary, both of West Valley City; Merlin and wife Margie, Magna; daughters, Shirley and husband John DeYoung; Rhea and husband Ron Thurman, both of West Valley City; son-in-law Norman and Ruth Hammer, Santa Monica, Calif.; 40 grandchildren; 87 great-grandchildren; sister, Mary Meacham. Preceded in death by a dear daughter, Phyllis May Hammer; sister, Bernice Mortensen Pettit; brothers, Wain, Paul, Howard and Robert; great-granddaughters, Aubrhea Sue Lopez and Charlott Huyett; great-grandson, Jonathan Poole.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, 12 noon at the Granger South Stake Center, 4586 West 3960 South. Friends may call Tuesday, 5-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, and Wednesday one hour prior to services at the church. Interment, Valley View
