Arvilla Salisbury Carter, 89, of Santaquin, Utah, our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away March 8, 1993 after a lingering illness.
She was born February 4, 1904 in Nephi, Utah to Alfred and Maude V. Hitesman Salisbury Jones. She married Leslie F. Carter September 26, 1921. He passed away May 16, 1952. Their marriage was solemnized September 4, 1954 in the Manti LDS Temple. She was active in the LDS Church. She taught Primary, Relief Society secretary, visiting teacher. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and Santaquin Senior Citizens. Enjoyed singing with the singing mothers.She fulfilled an LDS mission to the Southern States in 1968-69. After returning home she served a Santaquin Tintic Stake Mission. On the opening of the Provo LDS Temple she served as a receptionist for two and a half years.
Her hobbies were crocheting (made many beautiful afghans) and working in her rose garden, was an avid reader, and especially loved to read histories of the pioneers.
She is survived by one daughter and four sons and spouses, Mrs. Kendall (Maxine) Hudson, Santaquin; Floyd A. (Delores), Washington, Utah; Alan M. (Janet), Genola, Utah; Terry L. (Bonnie), Clearfield; Merrill R. (De Ann) Carter, Orem; one son died in infancy; a sister, Desma Stowell, Nephi, Utah; 22 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; one foster great-great-grandchild.
She always loved her children and grandchildren, and appreciated them all so very much.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 12, 1993, at 11 a.m. at the Santaquin Stake Center, 90 South 200 East, Santaquin, with Bishop L. Roger Porter officiating.
Friends may call Thursday eve. 6-8 p.m. at Holladay Hills Funeral Home, 66 So. 300 East, Santaquin and Friday at the Stake Center 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment in the Santaquin City Cemetery.
