The Quad County Task Force has announced the discovery of two methamphetamine labs in Salt lake City in which drugs and equipment were seized in connection with another lab in Richfield.
The raids were the result of combined investigations by the task force, the state crime lab, the State Special Emergency Response Team, the Drug Enforcement Agency and the Metropolitan Narcotics Task Force.Officers seized lab glassware and chemicals, valued at about $1,100, and two ounces of methamphetamine at the Salt Lake locations. Warrants were obtained to search the residences at 6060 S. 2040 East and 3511 S. 1100 East.
Five Salt Lake-area residents were arrested in connection with the seizures. The task force also raided a methamphetamine lab at 575 S. 400 West in Richfield, and arrested a man.
A task force spokesman said the Salt Lake labs had the capacity to produce about two ounces of methamphetamine each day, at a street value of $5,600. The Richfield lab could produce 0.25 ounce per day, with a street value of about $700.
The task force also announced that aSanpete County investigation led to the arrests of Matt Shelley of Mt. Pleasant and Marc Christensen of Manti. The task force also assisted the Piute County sheriff in an investigation that led to the arrest of one juvenile. The possession of and/or distribution of marijuana was allegedly involved.
The Quad County narcotics organization includes officers in Sevier, Sanpete, Wayne and Piute counties.
