Leland "Monte" Marshall, age 86, passed away March 9, 1993 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Born February 13, 1907 in Salt Lake City to George Heber and Mary Louise Beebe Marshall. Married Ruth Ethel Drury, June 5, 1929 and solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple, June 5, 1931.Monte spent most of his childhood in Idaho. Attended Lafayette, Washington, Horace Mann schools; graduated from LDS High School; attended LDS Business College and University of Utah. He was in the tire business most of his life. Worked at the Remington Arms Plant. Served in the U.S. Army Engineers Corps during World War II and went to India. Was employed for thirteen years at the Veterans Hospital in Animal Research.
Taught square dancing and modern dancing. Was ward dance instructor in three different wards and stake dance director in Monument Park Stake. Was in the superintendency of Sunday School for 15 years, in the MIA presidency in two wards, and a High Priest in the 5th Ward - Mt. Olympus Stake North at the time of his death.
He loved everybody.
Survived by his wife Ruth; daughter, Amber Cindy Taylor; two grandchildren, Robert and Donald L. Taylor; brothers, Woodrow, Earle, and Keith, Salt Lake City; Layton in Daly City, Calif.; sister, Darlene Hansen, Ogden, UT; and brother-in-law, Jesse M. Drury, Salt Lake City. Preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Wilbur, Leone, Francis, LaRae, Rulon, and Norma Jean.
Funeral services on Saturday, March 13th,
1 p.m., at Olympus 5th Ward, 3610 East 3510 South. Friends may call at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple, Friday evening 6-8 pm, and at Ward on Saturday, 12 noon-12:45 p.m. Burial, Salt Lake City Cemetery.
