Additional acreage on the Fishlake National Forest has been proposed for inclusion in the grasshopper and Mormon cricket control program, and officials are seeking public comment about extending pest control through 1995.

Comments should be sent to Lynn Findlay at the forest supervisor's office, 115 E. 900 North, Richfield, UT 84701. He may be reached by phone at 896-9233. The deadline for submitting comments is Monday, March 15.The same control methods will be used as in the past, including chemical sprays and/or chemical or biological agents in bait formulations. Control activities would be conducted during the spring through late June and only where insect populations pose a threat of moving off the forest and causing crop damage, Findlay said.

Proposed for inclusion in the control program are 3,800 acres in the Chalk Creek area near Fillmore and a strip of land containing about 7,300 acres west of I-70 extending south from Richfield to the mouth of Clear Creek Canyon.

Findlay said the lands west of the interstate highway were included in the Bureau of Land Management's treatment program last year, but administration responsibilities have been transferred to the Forest Service.
