I was highly offended by the picture in the March 3 paper depicting a woman with a tattoo and curly hair as the typical child abuser and the sweet little mom with child and family dog as a healthy family, when in reality, they should have shown it like it is: Child abuse is not only physical but also mental. Because a child doesn't have a bruise on his/her body doesn't mean the child isn't being abused.
The comparison was wrong. It should have shown both these parents could be a child abuser. Because a woman has a tattoo doesn't mean she abuses her children, and because a woman doesn't have a tattoo doesn't mean she is a wonderful mom. Child abuse happens in all economic backgrounds, the rich and poor alike.Fran Haycock
