A West Jordan boy remained in critical condition Friday at LDS Hospital after he rode his bicycle into a busy street and was hit by a car, police say.
Witnesses told police that Travis M. Mortensen, 16, attempted to cross a busy intersection at 2700 W. 9000 South and was hit by the second car that tried to avoid him, said Capt. Randy Johnson of the West Jordan Department of Public Safety.Johnson said the boy reportedly rode against the light. Officials will continue their investigation; no citations have been issued, he said.
Mortensen, who was transported to LDS Hospital via Lifeflight, suffered from "head injuries and other things," Johnson said.

A hospital spokeswoman confirmed the boy's injuries, but could not offer a prognosis.
