- Track - Four Utah State University track and field athletes have earned bids for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships this Friday and Saturday in Indianapolis, Ind.

Qualifying for a shot at All-American honors are Tracy Dulmage (long and triple jump), Troy Johnson (400 meters), Alisa Nicodemus (mile and 5,000) and Bode Osagiobare (55 and 200). To qualify for the NCAAs an athlete must post one of the top 16 marks for his or her event in the nation. All-American honors go to the top six finishers and the top six American finishers.

BYU

- Men's tennis - BYU defeated Utah State on Wednesday by the score of 7-0. The Cougars improved their season record to 5-4 by using 11 different players in nine matches, both singles and doubles.

Top player Mark Quinney and Micah Rideout, moved up to the number two spot for the match, both won by the same score, 6-1, 6-0.

- Baseball - The Cougars, 9-5, traveled to Nevada-Reno for a three-game series that began Friday at 3 p.m. MST. On Saturday the Cougars play at 1 p.m. MST, in a seven-inning game followed by a nine-inning contest. These games replace the four-game schedule in the Boise Tournament which was canceled.

The first game each day the Cougars play will be broadcast live locally on KSRR Radio (AM-1400). Brent Norton and Raeldon Palmer will call the play-by-play.

- Women's tennis - BYU will take on defending WAC champion San Diego State (No. 16) Friday at 2 p.m., the University of San Diego (No. 18) Saturday at 1 p.m. and the University of Texas (No. 3) Monday at 4 p.m.

Besides being treated to top-drawer collegiate tennis, spectators will be admitted free, and they can follow the action with the help of a new scoreboard.
