Former workers who made swimsuits for Catalina in Murray are eligible for U.S. Trade Act benefits, according to Terry O. Burns, unemployment service director for the Utah Department of Employment Security. The company said about 86 workers are affected in Utah.
The benefits are available to Catalina workers laid off on or after Nov. 21, 1991, and before Feb. 11, 1995. These benefits include trade-act unemployment insurance payments, job search and relocation allowances and payment of approved training.Trade-affected workers filing for weekly trade-act unemployment insurance payments must be enrolled in training or have a waiver of the training enrollment requirements in order to receive the payments. Burns suggests the people affected by the decision should contact their local Job Service office to apply.
