Ming International Inc., the franchiser for Ming Auto Beauty Centers, said Friday it will move its corporate headquarters to Salt Lake City from Kansas City, Mo., and open a franchising and training center here.

Corporate spokesman Mark Gilleland said the company has also bought the Salt Lake Ming Auto Beauty Center and will develop a research and training center for franchisees.Ming, an acronym for "masters in natural glazing," was launched in 1935 when Chester Stebenne developed a paint-finishing process he said would protect auto paint for years without waxing.

Gilleland said the original process has been improved and updated to keep pace with improved auto coatings.

Gilleland said the company plans to franchise 150 new stores across the United States over the next five years.

Franchises are also available in Utah in Ogden as well as Davis and Utah counties.
