Gilbert Goodman, former squadron commander in England during World War II, center front, along with other squadron members and their wives, watches as the Air Force's 388th Fighter Wing flies in formation, above, to celebrate its 50th anniversary Friday at Hill Air Force Base, where it has been stationed since 1975. Fighter wing members, families, guests and former members gathered for a memorial service, displays and flying demonstrations by F-16 Fighting Falcons. Activated in World War II, the wing flew attack missions in North Vietnam and also in Iraq and Kuwait during Operation Desert Storm.
