Mount Tabor Lutheran hosts forum on March 21
Mount Tabor Lutheran Church, 175 S. 700 East, will host an adult forum on "The Parables of Jesus," on Sunday, March 21 at 9:15 a.m. Janet Larson, associate professor of English at Rutgers University and editor-at-large of Christian Century magazine, will be the presenter. 1st United presentation
First United Methodist Church, 203 S. 200 East, will host a presentation on the political turmoil in the Middle East on Wednesday, March 17, beginning with a dinner at 6 p.m. and discussion to follow at 7. The relationship between the religious history of the region and its modern political problems will be examined and slides of important religious landmarks will be shown. The public is invited. Bible study begins Monday
A Bible study focused on "Exodus - A Study in Prophecy," be will held Monday nights at 7 p.m. beginning March 15 at the Meta Tauta Society, 1935 S. Fremont Drive (2205 West). For information, call 973-4800.
The Society is also presenting "Israel Today and the Coming Temple: A Special Report," on Sunday, March 28 at 7 p.m. at the Park City Community Church, 4501 Olympic Parkway. It will also be presented on Monday, March 29 at 7 p.m. at the Meta Tauta Society.
AWANA marks 25th year
MIDVALE - Midvalley Bible Church, 40 S. Main, will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the founding of its youth group, the AWANA club, on Sunday, March 21 at 10 a.m. Two original club members will present messages, and music and testimonies from former club members and leaders now serving in other clubs around the world will precede a luncheon.
A slide show the club's history will follow the meal, and at 6 p.m., current club members will be recognized for their achievements.
The club, which is open to children ages kindergarten through 12th grade, has about 75 members at present. More than 3,000 children have participated in the club since its inception. AWANA - Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed - has some 19 clubs in Utah and 10,000 worldwide. The Midvale group is the oldest of its type in the state.
Judge Memorial reception
Judge Memorial Catholic High School, 650 S. 1100 East, will hold a reception honoring benefactors and supporter of the school on Friday, April 2 at 6 p.m. in the E.L. Wiegand Studio. A spring student dance performance will follow at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The events are in celebration of the mortgage burning for the school's auditorium.
3 Bible Baptist revivals
Bible Baptist Church, 3769 W. 4700 South, will hold three revival meetings beginning today at 7 p.m. and on Sunday, March 14 at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. Guest evangelist is the Rev. Ron Zwart of Lander, Wyo. The revival theme is "The Christian's Place in Today's World," and topics include how to raise a successful family, when Jesus will come again and where hell is. Forum on circumcision
Infant circumcision will be the topic of a forum on Sunday, March 21 at 9 a.m. at First Unitarian Church, 569 S. 1300 East. Steve Scott from the Utah chapter of the National Organization of Circumcision Information Centers, will be the speaker. Questions and comments will be taken from the audience following the presentation.
Discussion on abortion
The Salt Lake Christian Center, 4300 S. 700 East, will feature the Rev. John O. Anderson during services on Sunday, March 14 at 9 and 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. The Rev. Anderson is author of "The Cry of the Innocents - Abortion and the Race Towards Judgment," which compares the culture of Old Testament Israel and modern society in relation to the shedding of innocent blood and abortion. Semiannual assembly
OGDEN - A semiannual assembly of Jehovah's Witnesses will be held on Saturday, March 27 at the Dee Events Center. The theme for the event is "Live With Soundness of Mind and Righteousness." Events begin at 9:55 a.m. and conclude at 4 p.m. All sessions are free and the public is invited.
Concert at St. Mark's
St. Mark's organist and choir master Carl Anderson will present a concert along with the Cathedral Brass on Sunday, March 14 at 7 p.m. in The Cathedral Church of St. Mark, 231 E. 100 South. The concert is open to the public and admission is by donation. The event is part of the "Music at St. Mark's" concert series.
