The Cleveland Lumberjacks scored the last two goals of the game in the third period to hand the Salt Lake Golden Eagles a 5-4 loss Friday night.
Shawn Heaphy scored his first goal of the night in the opening period to knot the game a 1-1. Salt Lake's Heaphy and Patrick Lebeau both scored in the second to only one goal for the Lumberjacks to take a 3-2 lead.Lebeau's second goal came when Todd Harkins skated the puck deep into Cleveland territory, taking a Lumberjack defenseman with him. Harkins dumped the puck off to Lebeau who fired it past Cleveland goalie Rob Dopson from 18 feet out.
But the Eagles didn't hold the lead for long as Lumberjacks' George Zajankala nailed a 10-foot wrist shot to tie it at 3-3.
Thing were looking pretty good for Salt Lake when Todd Brost beat Dopson with a slapshot at 2:19 of the third, but the Lumberjacks came charging back with goals from Sandy Smith and Dave Michayluk to end the scoring.
Salt Lake played the game without Kerry Clark, who was serving a one-game suspension after receiving his third game misconduct against Milwaukee.
With the loss, Salt Lake drops to 32-32 while Cleveland improves to 32-27
The Golden Eagles now travel to Kalamazoo today to play the Wings at 5:30 p.m.
