With Hillary Clinton out of town Monday, President Clinton and daughter Chelsea took the opportunity to dine out with actors Paul Newman and his wife Joanne Woodward, Tim Robbins and a few friends at a pricey Washington restaurant.

Newman, a longtime liberal activist, and Woodward joined the Clintons at Galileo, an Italian restaurant in downtown Washington. Also at the table were Robbins, star of the satirical movie on Washington politics, "Bob Roberts," along with Anne Wexler, a Carter White House aide, and her husband, Joe Duffey, president of American University.Bill and Carol Raimer, friends of the Clintons from Arkansas, also joined them and later spent the night at the White House.

The group spent more than three hours in the restaurant - except for Chelsea, who left at 9:45 p.m., an hour before her father emerged with the rest of the party.
