Jordan District Superintendent Raymond W. Whittenburg has agreed to meet Thursday with representatives of a group opposed to the selection of West Jordan for a new high school.

Many residents of southern Salt Lake Valley have staged strong opposition to the Jordan Board's decision not to build farther south in the valley. The board voted 4-1 for the West Jordan site.

Whittenburg will meet at the district offices with the Bingham High School PTA president and Thaddeus Speed, a member of the Riverton City Council.

The superintendent will explain the procedure that would be necessary to reopen the issue. Since the board has already voted, it would require a motion by one of those who was in the majority, along with a second and a majority vote, to bring back the issue.
