Melford King, age 88, died Tuesday, March 2, 1993 from causes incident to age.
He was born August 30, 1904 at Antimony, (Coyote), Utah, a son of Alonzo and Martha Ann Wallace King. He married Della Lyman, April 12, 1928 in the Manti LDS Temple. They had nine children. Three sons preceded him in death: Ross V., James L., and Garth M. King.He is survived by his wife, Della, of Payson; three sons and three daughters and their spouses: Melford Arl and Joy King, Newport News, Virginia; Hal H. and Bliss King, Payson; Don and Afton D. Hales, Salt Lake City; Terril A. and Mary Lee King, American Fork; Ernest and Ruth Ann Wilkins, Garden Grove, California; and Brent and Jane Ludlow of Murray; 30 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; a brother, Oral King of Aurora, and a sister Ann Holmes, of Salt Lake City. Seven brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
He was a gentleman farmer, sheep-herder and retired from Pacific States Iron and Pipe Co. after 20 years of service.
Services will be Saturday, March 6, 1993, 1:00 p.m. in the Payson Sixth LDS Ward Chapel, 1080 South 930 West. Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, 587 South 100 West, Payson, Friday, 6-8:00 p.m. or at the church Saturday, 12-12:45 p.m. Burial will be in the Payson City Cemetery.
